Children's Community Support Worker
We are currently recruiting for child & adult support workers in the Neath and Swansea areas.
The ideal candidates will have experience of providing community support to children and young adults who require additional help and support with social inclusion and community involvement. Ideally you will have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, physical illness and/ or mental health issues.
The support can be challenging however extremely rewarding. You will need to be robust and understanding to the issues and difficulties faced by children and families and be empathetic with your approach while also having a strong and resilient work ethic.
We require you to work on a flexible basis part-time and you must have had at least 6 months paid or 12 months voluntary experience in a similar setting.
Family Support Wales offer mandatory training and the opportunity to work on a flexible basis in a supported environment. We pay on a weekly basis and offer a competitive hourly rate.
Key skills we require to enable you to do the job are as follows:
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of community recourses
Ability to empathise
Knowledge of preferred client group
Basic understanding of ASD and ADHD
Excellent team player
Assist with mobility issues.
Car driver essential
We are looking for warm and friendly personnel who have health and social care experience. You will be expected to work closely with the child's family and build a positive working relationship with them.
