Family Support Wales offers community support to children of all ages who are affected by complex needs and diagnosis such as ASD. We offer bespoke support tailored to the child and young person’s specific needs.
We support children and young people to enjoy community activities such as cinema, Buzz, trampoline parks, swimming, and many other activities.
We also understand the importance of the family involved every day supporting children who live day-to-day with complex needs or display challenging behaviour. With this in mind we work closely with social services to ensure we offer the best support possible.
FSW will carry out a comprehensive assessment process and liaise with the family social worker to enable us to gain as much understanding as possible to support safety in the community.

We also understand the importance of the family involved every day supporting Adult who live day-to-day with complex needs or display challenging behaviour.
Our community support options will help with day-to-day respite and day service support. We can work with families with direct payments alongside our commitment to the local authorities.
Our support staff are trained and supported to deliver a support service that will encourage improvement with life skills, social skills and community inclusion. We will work in partnership with you to deliver the best support service possible to meet the requirements of all your family.
We will supply you with videos of everyday signs for you to learn online at a time that suits you.
We have produced simple to follow modules, where you can learn how to communicate in British Sign Language and form sentences to be able to discuss everyday activities, whether that be at home with your family, at work with colleagues and friends, or in an education setting.
The format of the videos is to teach you the basic signs - the vocabulary, then explain how to use this vocabulary in sentences and questions, and how to link associated signs together.
We have included aspects from the Level 1 BSL course – to build up your sign vocabulary, and then later, concepts from the Level 2 BSL course – a bit like steppingstones where you can increase your knowledge, understanding and confidence.
Family Support Wales operates Holiday Club support sessions for children with disabilities and diagnosis in the school holiday season. We offer this service in the following counties: Neath Port Talbot, Swansea and Carmarthenshire. The trips and sessions are overseen by our managers and support workers. We also recruit sessional holiday workers in the term holidays to help us during these periods. If you are interested in working with us during the school term holidays please see our careers section.
Previously we have supported children to enjoy day trips to Folly Farm, Swansea Lido and many other places.
Please visit our Holiday Club page to see the activities we will be offering this year.
Here are some pictures from our wonderful days out (published with permission).
Family Support Wales is a fabulous service. Our son received respite three days a week from them. All his carers are just wonderful with him. Today his carer, Simon, took Nathan for a hair cut. We'd agreed beforehand that if Nathan didn't want a hair cut (because he'd always been just with me before)then he wouldn't have one. However, Nathan came home with a fabulous hair cut which tells us that he felt comfortable enough with Simon to have his hair cut. This is a huge thing! Right from the beginning, Family Support Wales has truly supported our family, from Lisa (who is always helpful and very prompt with Nathan's house), to every carer Nathan has had. They're not simply "doing a job", we can see that they are truly invested in bringing out the best in our son. This is equally valuable for us as we can relax knowing he's in good hands, and have never had cause for concern. We are incredibly grateful to Family Support Wales for all they do and how they enrich Nathan's life in so many ways.
" I genuinely cannot praise Family Support Wales enough for what they have done for our family by supporting our 15 year old son. Without sounding dramatic they have been complete life savers during extremely difficult and emotive times within our family . They have been beyond accommodating, supportive and reactive to our family needs and I do not know what we would have done without this service especially at that time. All the team have been outstanding and are firm favourites with our son and he always has a big smile on his face when they arrive. Thank you Family Support Wales for giving us the confidence to trust a provision again. Thank you .
We were first introduced to Family Support Wales during the summer of 2017. We observed that how quickly the support worker formed a relationship with our little one. Always had a calm caring approach tackling each challenge with a smile. We particularly remember how supportive the staff were through our little ones difficult times of change. His commitment will stay with our little one and us always.
Not able to tell you how happy I am with Family Support Wales. They have taken the stress out of managing and paying my PA's, a big help during difficult times.
Friendly advice backed up with quality service, and always available for advice, thank you
